ODM MP In Mourning After Son’s Death

Suna West Member of Parliament Peter Masara is in sadness over the death of his son.

Masara’s party, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), confirmed the news on Monday, June 30, with a condolence message.

“We commiserate with Hon. Peter Masara, MP for Suna West, for the loss of his beloved son Hillary,” ODM said in a statement.

The statement went on, “We pray for Mheshimiwa and his family to have God’s grace, strength and fortitude in this difficult time of grief.”

The news of Masara son’s death first surfaced on the internet on Sunday, when the lawmaker’s constituents began sharing it on social media alongside condolence messages.

While specifics about how the MP’s son died remain scarce, there are indications that his death was, in many respects, sudden.

This was the latest bereavement for the ODM party, which has dealt with multiple high-profile deaths of leaders or their families.

Kilifi governor Gideon Mung’aro revealed his father’s death on June 14, coinciding with Father’s Day around the world.

Masara’s family has kept most details about the lawmaker’s personal life confidential.

However, in 2020, the MP went into sorrow after his brother was discovered dead in his apartment in Oruba village, Suna West Sub County.

In the midst of the mystery surrounding the brother’s death, it was disclosed that he had tuberculosis in the days preceding his death.
