Martha Karua Puts IG Kanja On Notice Over Ndiangui Kinyagia Summon
Martha Karua, the People’s Liberation Party (PLP) leader, has criticized the National Police Service (NPS) for its remark on blogger Ndiangui Kinyagia.
On Thursday, July 3, Karua accused the police of violating court orders by summoning Ndiangui to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters.
In her statement, the opposition principal described NPS Police Spokesperson Muchiri Nyaga’s remarks as sub judice because Ndiangui’s case was still being heard by the court.
While dismissing Ndiangu’s summons, Karua urged the police to reconsider their actions and await the court’s decision.
“This is not even funny; the matter is sub judice. We shall conclude which way after full information. You remain suspects until the court pronounces itself on the matter.”
“Whatever facts are in your possession should be directed to court by way of affidavits as directed,” Karua said.

On July 3, NPS issued a statement requiring Ndiangui to appear at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters and record his statement.
Muchiri Nyaga stated that Ndiangui is a person of interest in the ongoing investigations.
“Ndiangui had been reported missing, and information circulating on social as well as mainstream media accused the Police Service of allegedly abducting him,” Muchiri Nyaga said.

“Nonetheless, he remains a person of interest to the police and is hereby urged to present himself to the DCI Headquarters to record a statement,” he added.
The police chief also urged Kenyans against self-abduction, stressing that such activities are a criminal offense and will result in punishment.
“The Service reiterates its earlier response that Ndiangui Kinyagia was not in police custody,” the police service stated.
“We take great exception to the emerging trend whereby individuals feign abduction and provide false information to the police, intending to generate a misleading narrative.”
