Duale Blasts Gachagua Over Alleged Inflammatory Remarks Against Ruto

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s alleged divisive remarks directed at President William Ruto have been denounced by Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale.

Duale charged the former DP on Saturday night with making “harmful” and “reckless” statements that, if left unchecked, might devastate the nation.

This follows Gachagua’s criticism of the Head of State for allegedly irritating the people of Mount Kenya and employing divisive techniques to impede the progress of the populous region.

In response to Gachagua’s remarks, Duale claimed that the former DP was trying to foment discord among Kenyans and that the statement denigrated Kenya’s leadership.

“We know Mr Gachagua is in a self-destructive mode. But he cannot burn the country as he destroys himself,” Duale wrote.

“Such reckless statements are dangerous for our country’s peace and stability. This is truly lowering the bar for leadership.”

The former DP made the statement at his maternal aunt’s funeral, which took place on June 28.

Gachagua claimed that the nation was in desperate need of assistance and that he had ignored his late aunt’s warnings about Ruto’s leadership.

He continued by accusing the President of trying to punish his family members and the larger Mount Kenya region for not supporting his rule.

Gachagua, however, downplayed concerns about persecution by the present government, saying he was prepared for any possible harm to him and his family.

“We are in trouble and at a crossroads. My mother here has warned me that William Ruto is an evil man and if he is elected as president, he will persecute me, my children, and my community, and it has come to pass.”

“I am not worried about myself because I am the one who caused the mess. I can be persecuted, but my children also can be persecuted for my community. We need help,” Gachagua said.

Gachagua talked about how his aunt used to call him and worry about his proximity to Ruto during the incident.

“She told me that the person I was walking around with, Ruto, is not good. She warned me to be careful. But I told her that he had changed,” he said.

In his long speech, Gachagua explained that he decided to disregard his aunt’s advise.

“She told me to leave him alone, but I refused. She added that this person was going to mess with me and even my children. I disputed her,” he added.
