KUCCPS Announces Dates For Inter-Institutional Transfer Portal, Outlines Application Process

Students enrolled in the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) program will soon be eligible to change their colleges.

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) recently revealed plans to develop an inter-institutional transfer portal.

Applicants who wish to amend the courses or schools they selected during the 2025 application round can do so beginning Monday, July 14.

In a July 11 message to Vice-Chancellors, the Placement Service announced that the inter-institutional transfer portal will be active for ten days, with the window set to conclude on July 24.

KUCCPS highlighted in its release that the adjustments to courses and institutions would only be available to applicants who met the necessary cut-off marks.

How To Initiate Inter-Institutional Transfer

The initial step is for the student to initiate an online transfer application through the KUCCPS portal, which is then submitted to the receiving institution.

As a result, the receiving institution approves the application through its institutional site and admits the student online.

The final step is for the releasing institution to receive the application and release the student electronically through its institutional portal.

Once the student is delivered to the recipient institution, the endorsed application is sent to KUCCPS online for approval, and a transfer letter is generated.

The applicant then downloads the approved transfer letter and shows it to the receiving institution, which will issue the admission letter and joining instructions.

According to KUCCPS, both releasing and receiving institutions will get transfer reports via their institutional portals.

“The purpose of this letter, therefore, is to inform you of the timelines and to request that you accord the applicants timely support during this period,” KUCCPS Chief Executive Officer, Agnes Wahome, told Vice-Chancellors and Directors of TVET institutions.

“During the processing of inter-faculty and programme transfers in degree programmes, institutions are required to strictly adhere to individual programme cut-off points and minimum subject requirements as published by KUCCPS,” she added.
