‘He Doesn’t Represent Transformation!’ – Miguna Miguna Says Of Ex-DP Gachagua
Lawyer Miguna Miguna has slammed former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for his latest political ambitions.
During a Citizen TV interview on Sunday, Miguna recalled being at the university at the same time as Gachagua, who supported then-President Daniel Moi and his single-party rule.
According to the former Nairobi gubernatorial candidate, Gachagua’s resistance to a multi-party nation while most people supported it revealed everything he needed to know about him.
Miguna remarked that Gachagua was incapable of being the transformational leader that Kenya requires.
In actuality, he stated that Gachagua and his united opposition crew had continued to promote similar views, particularly through collaboration with former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i.
Dr. Miguna Miguna: We need to overhaul the existing rotten structure before we can transform it. William Ruto cannot do that and any of these characters you are mentioning cannot do that. “I was at the university with Rigathi Gachagua in 1987, even though he was ahead of me, I believe by two years. Gachagua does not represent transformation. He can never transform anything,” he claimed.
“Rigathi Gachagua is William Ruto basically because he supported Daniel Arap Moi’s one-party state in 1987 when many of us were campaigning against it.”
He continued: “He supported that throughout his life and continues to support it. That is why he is with Matiang’i.”
Miguna insisted that the current political leadership needed to be overhauled.
He claimed that none of the members of the United Opposition were qualified to serve in key positions and guide Kenya to where it needed to go.
Miguna, who had scored the interview as a reaction to Matiang’i’s interview a fortnight before, argued that their close relationship with Matiang’i was a clear sign that they had no good intentions for Kenya.

He said that Kalonzo Musyoka, Martha Karua, and Eugene Wamalwa were all unfit to head the country.
He also opposed Trans Nzoia County Governor George Natembeya’s eligibility, alleging atrocities committed during his tenure as a county commissioner.
For years, Miguna has accused the former Interior CS of his illegal incarceration and subsequent deportation to Dubai in 2018, among other horrors.
This includes extrajudicial killings, particularly those discovered dumped in the River Yala under his tenure.

However, he appears to have thrown his support behind former Chief Justice David Maraga in his opposition to human rights violations.
“He is a good candidate. He represents a break from the past. He is not one of the oligarchs but to the extent that he has not revealed his manifesto, I have not spoken to him, I can not say anything beyond that,” Miguna remarked.
“But I have to say that he definitely opposes the violation of human rights that occured in 2018 and 2022, including the ones that occured against me.”
He added: “He opposed the culture of impunity that was becoming and became a systemic institutionalised and weaponised by Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto, so that is a positive candidate.”
