According to the employees, the goons stormed the premises on Sunday at around 8 a.m., just three hours after they opened for business.
They then plundered everything, injuring those who attempted to retaliate.
“We came to work at 5 am. When it got to 8 am, strange people just stormed and started throwing stones at us. They ransacked the whole place and looted goods,” one of the workers explained.
They revealed that since the Sunday incident, they have been dealing with serious financial difficulties, unable to buy even basic meals because the business premises had been their sole source of revenue.
“The goons came here, looted a lot of things. We tried to call for the police, who came but didn’t do anything; they just watched,” another worker said.
“Now we are stranded, we don’t have money or a job, our children and families are depending on us.”
The business owner blamed the incident on the area’s deteriorating security, alleging that it was ransacked while police were present.
The owner further claimed that her life was at risk.
“I am begging the government, we don’t have security in Mukuru kwa Ruben,” she said.

The incident has raised tensions in the community, with residents calling for changes at the local police station.
The residents say they no longer feel safe and are calling on the government to intervene.
Kenyans have been witnessing increased cases of goon invasion across the country, especially after the recent anti-government protests.
