IEBC Announces 30 Aspirants For ONE Parliamentary By-Election Seat
Just six months after the death of Moses Malulu Injendi, the Member of Parliament for Malava Constituency, the race to fill the vacancy has heated up, with 30 people expressing interest.
The recently completed Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is likely to declare the by-election date shortly.

The increasing number of candidates has transformed the constituency into a political battleground.
According to the list supplied by Saboti MP Caleb Amisi, aspirants for the National Assembly include experienced politicians, medical professionals, lawyers, and teachers.
Among the prominent candidates is Seth Panyako, Secretary-General of the Kenya National Union of Nurses (KNUN), who adds national prominence and expertise to the contest.
Panyako has widespread support from both the political and medical communities.
“I held a highly engaging and constructive meeting with Seth Panyako, a distinguished parliamentary aspirant for Malava Constituency in the upcoming by-election,” Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya said on Thursday, July 24.

Prof Philip Museve Kutima and Dr Enock Andanje are among the academic leaders involved.
Youths have not been forgotten, with candidates such as Ryan Injendi, the former MP’s son, and Lilian Sospeter vying for the youth vote.
Other names on the long list include Caleb Sunguti, Benjamin Nalwa, Jonah Barasa, Daniel Mwachi, and Wakili Lewis Shitanda.
Leaders from various political parties have already announced their preferred candidates, including Rigathi Gachagua’s newly formed DCP Party.

The Gachagua-led DCP Party is fielding Edgar Busiega Mwanga, while Raila Odinga’s ODM is yet to field a candidate.

However, due to their broad-based governing arrangement with Kenya Kwanza, it remains to be seen whether ODM will support the UDA candidate or run their own.
The ruling party, UDA, has also not been left behind, as Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has been pitching camp in the region.
Mudavadi drummed up support for the UDA candidate in the forthcoming by-election. UDA is believed to be backing the late MP’s son.
