She had worked for the Kenya Television Network (KTN), Nation Media Group, and Al Jazeera in various positions.
Speaking after accepting the position, Karoney emphasized the importance of developing a strong Cape Media brand and diversifying revenue streams at the rapidly growing media organization.
Cape Media Chairperson Simon Gicharu, for his part, praised her appointment as one that would ensure that TV47, Radio47, and TV47 Digital continue on their current trajectory of growth.

During her tenure as Lands CS, Karoney advocated for the digitization of land records through the National Land Information Management System (NLIMS), also known as Ardhisasa.
Ardhisasa‘s primary goals were to streamline land transactions, increase transparency, and reduce fraud and forgery.
In addition, to reduce response times for services like title searches and transfers, as well as to improve revenue collection.
Karoney had a low profile after her stint as a CS, but she returned to public duty in August 2024 when President William Ruto nominated her to the National Lottery Board as Chairperson.
