NAIROBI: Police Officer Stabbed To Death, Assailant On The Run
A police officer was fatally stabbed during a robbery in Dandora, Nairobi.
Constable Layford Gitonga of Dandora Police Station was off duty when he was attacked at Dandora Phase Three around 1 a.m. on Saturday.
According to police, he was found dead with a stab wound to the chest.
Gitonga is alleged to have resisted the robbery, resulting in a tragic confrontation. His phone was stolen during the event.

The officer, Constable Layford Gitonga of Dandora Police Station, was off duty when he was attacked in Dandora Phase Three around 1 am on Saturday.

The assailants fled to the nearby dumpsite and have yet to be identified.
The cop died on the scene. His body was taken to the mortuary for an autopsy and additional investigation.
Police said they’re following leads, but a big investigation in the region resulted in no arrests.
Authorities continue to advise robbery victims to collaborate with perpetrators in order to avert such catastrophes.

Meanwhile, ten Kilifi police officers were injured in a Land Cruiser collision on Friday night.
The vehicle rolled into a ditch near Timboni Maweni.
All firearms have been collected and accounted for. The injured officers were treated and released in stable condition.
Traffic accidents involving police cars are on the upswing, raising concerns about safety measures.
