TRAGIC: Cargo Train Collides With Bus, Several Killed In Naivasha
A cargo train collided with a Kenya Pipeline Company bus near Morendat Junction in Naivasha, killing at least six persons.
According to witnesses, the tragedy occurred on Thursday afternoon when a bus carrying passengers attempted to cross the railway line in front of an incoming train.
The train driver apparently used emergency brakes, but the distance was too short to stop in time to escape the collision.
Eyewitnesses verified at least six fatalities, with the number of injured unknown.

Rescue attempts are ongoing, with police officers dispatched to the location to control the situation, which has produced a significant traffic jam along the route.
The white bus was heavily damaged by the freight train, as evidenced by video footage of the incident.
However, the train did not receive any substantial damage, and neighbors were spotted helping to rescue individuals trapped beneath the wreckage.
Meanwhile, the Kenya Pipeline Company issued a statement confirming the disaster.
According to the firm, the crash occurred in the afternoon at the railway crossing near the Morendat Training and Conference Centre.
The firm also stated that the bus was struck by a train while transporting employees who were concluding their morning shift.

Following the incident, the company revealed that it had already mobilised a rescue team and that all the injured were immediately evacuated to hospitals within Naivasha for medical attention.

“We are working closely with the medical teams and local authorities to ensure the injured receive the best possible care and to facilitate airlifts for the critically injured,” Kenya Pipeline Company affirmed.
“At this time, our thoughts and prayers are with our colleagues and their families,” the company added.
“We assure the public and all our stakeholders that we are doing everything possible to manage the situation and provide the necessary support to those affected.”
