Ali Kiba Apologises to Tanzanians After Scandulous Samia Suluhu Support

Tanzanian musician Ali Kiba has openly apologized to his fellow people for supporting President Samia Suluhu Hassan.

Kiba took to Instagram Stories on Wednesday night, November 6, to write a brief but clear apologetic letter, which has now garnered a large following.

The award-winning Bongo Flava icon wrote, “Poleni ndugu zangu Watanzania, na ninawaomba msamaha kwa kuwa kwaza.”

Tanzania’s general elections, held on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, were marked by protests as voters expressed great dissatisfaction with the government over a variety of topics.

The protests were mostly unexpected, and weeks before the elections, a slew of famous Tanzanian artists were still actively advocating for President Samia Suluhu.

They praised her despite widespread worries that the opposition had not been given an equal opportunity to compete.

So, when the protests began, artists who had openly supported President Samia found themselves in the eye of a storm, with locals turning on them in a violent online campaign that compelled some to withdraw from social media for a while.

At the same time, others, such as Diamond Platnumz, were forced to delete any content on their social media profiles that showed them supporting President Samia Suluhu.

While artists such as Billnass elected to remove their accounts completely, Tanzanians followed through on their promises to cancel artists they believed to be aligning with the governing administration.
