Kakamega Man Slain While Attempting To Separate Fighting Couple
A 32-year-old man died after being struck while attempting to separate a couple fighting in Malinya, Kakamega County, police say.
According to authorities, Owen Savai went to a neighbour’s house on Thursday, where there was a ruckus.
During the dispute, one of the people involved whacked Savai in the head with a wooden stick, killing him.
He was transported to a local hospital and pronounced dead upon arrival.
The body was eventually transported to the mortuary for examination. The perpetrator fled the area and was not apprehended as of Friday.
In a separate incident in Butere, Kakamega County, police are looking into the deaths of two individuals who were allegedly attacked by a crowd over suspicions of cattle theft.
The first incident occurred on Eshirembe-Ishihaka Road, where 24-year-old James Ambunya was discovered dead from multiple injuries.
Authorities say a group kidnapped him from his house and killed him nearby.
A mob reportedly took 27-year-old Wycliffe Were from his home in Musanda and killed him around 50 meters away.

According to cops, his mother heard him scream but couldn’t interfere because the house was locked from the outside. A neighbour later recovered the body.
The victims’ bodies have been transferred to the mortuary for autopsies and additional investigations.
Police reiterated their warning against mob violence, urging residents to report suspects to authorities.
