CS Ruku Finally Responds To Gachagua’s Visit To His Grandmother

Geoffrey Ruku, the Public Service Cabinet Secretary, has criticized former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for allegedly having breakfast at the CS’s grandmother’s house on Monday morning.

This comes amid rising tensions in the area as Gachagua campaigned for Democratic Party (DP) candidate Newton Karish.

The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) team is campaigning for Leonard Muthende to succeed Ruku in the Mbeere North constituency by-election.

On Monday, November 17, Gachagua took an early morning stroll around Mbeere North, visiting homes in a door-to-door campaign.

When the images went viral, suspicions spread that one of the residences he visited belonged to Ruku’s grandma.

Ruku, on the other hand, has subsequently refuted the charges, stating that both his parents and grandmother have died.

“Riggy G, stop lying to people that yesterday morning you woke up and went to the grandmother of Ruku. That is nonsense,” Ruku said during a rally in the area.

“If I Ruku does not have a mother or a father, as they passed away a long time ago – even the people of Muminji know this – can my grandmother really be alive?”

Ruku extended his call to Citizen TV, accusing it of propagating the same message.

“I also saw Citizen TV highlighting these issues. They are used to lying to Kenyan people, and we want to tell them from here in Muminji not to bring their attitude and enmity to us in Mbeere North,” he said.

Mbeere North is one of the jurisdictions with byelections scheduled on November 27.

As a result, lawmakers from all parties have increased their efforts in the area to support their favorite candidates.

Muthende of the UDA and Newton Karish of the DP are the two front-runners in the two-horse contest, each supported by opposing parties and adopting their own techniques to win over voters.

This means connecting with voters on a personal basis. Kindiki and Gachagua have both stated that they will camp in the region until the polls close.

Gachagua’s candidate from the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) dropped out to support former Public Service CS Justin Muturi’s DP candidate.

He has been leading the campaign team for Karish, alongside other United Opposition leaders.

On the other hand, the UDA team, led by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki and CS Ruku, has been campaigning for Muthende.

Whoever wins will replace CS Ruku, who left the position after landing his Cabinet appointment to replace Muturi, who is also from the region.
