“Justin Muturi Should Be Arrested Immediately!” – UDA Senator Demands
Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei has urged for former Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi’s immediate arrest in connection with reported violence in Mbeere North.
In a statement released on Thursday, November 27, the lawmaker accused the former Attorney General of violence and electoral malpractice after reportedly striking a voter.
Cherargei also urged the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) to consider removing Muturi from the list of advocates following his unusual behavior at the Siakago polling station.
“Justin Muturi should be arrested immediately for aggravated assault and election malpractice for attacking innocent voters and causing disruption at Siakago polling station,” said Cherargei.
Adding, “These are signs that their disunited opposition candidate is losing the Mbeere North constituency by-elections 2025. LSK should immediately remove him from the roll of advocates.”

Given Muturi’s previous roles as Attorney General and Speaker of the National Assembly, the Senator believes the Democratic Party leader’s conduct during the Mbeere-North by-elections were an embarrassment.
“It’s embarrassing that this is a former Attorney General of Kenya, a former Speaker of the National Assembly, a former judicial officer and a former member of Parliament,” Cherargei claimed.

Cherargei’s demands came after a video surfaced of Muturi battling with Thuku Kirunga, the agent of United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate Leonard Wa Muthende.
The dispute erupted because the previous CS objected to Kiruga’s decision to wear a yellow jacket, claiming that the hue represented the UDA party.
Muturi was also seen attacking another local who was following Wa Muthende’s representative.

Muturi told the press shortly after the event that it was against the law for Kirunga, a UDA lawmaker, to wear the party’s yellow colours.
“What I told him is that he cannot come to the polling station wearing clothes that represent party colours,” Muturi said.
“If he is an authorised agent or observer, he must come wearing other kinds of clothes.”
The former CS stated that he took action against Kirunga because the presiding officer refused to take action against the politician despite breaking the law.
