Gachagua Rewards DCP By-Election Losers With Key Executive Positions
Former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua has selected the candidates who lost the November 27 by-elections to the DCP National Executive Council.
Gachagua announced the appointments on December 4 via his social media accounts, rewarding the candidates for “representing the party ideals with courage” during the by-elections.
“You did an incredible job in the November 27, 2025, by-elections and held the party ideals with courage,” Gachagua wrote on his social media platform.
The DCP party leader appointed Stanley Kenga, the DCP candidate for Magarini, who was defeated by ODM’s Harrison Garama Kombe in the by-elections.
Congratulations Hon. Simon Sanare, Hon. Stanley Kenga and Hon. Wakili Edga Busiega from Kajiado, Kilifi and Kakamega counties on your appointment to the DCP PARTY NEC.

Kenga received 8,907 votes in the by-elections, while his major opponent, Harrison Kombe, won with 17,909 votes.

Busiega was obliged to suppress his ambitions as a result of the united opposition political arrangement in which the DCP supported DAP-K candidate Seth Panyako, who lost the elections to the UDA’s David Ndakwa.
Simon Sonare, the DCP candidate for Purko Ward Member of County Assembly who lost to United Democratic Party candidate Mpusia Alex, has also been selected to the DCP National Executive Council.
Gachagua’s move to reward by-election losers intends to build the party, which was launched on May 15, 2025. In just its first year of existence, the party has three elected MCAs.
The party intends to run against President William Ruto’s UDA in the 2027 general elections.
