Gachagua Blocked From Flying To Kakamega – DCP Leaders
Democracy for the Citizen Party (DCP) leaders have claimed that the government prevented former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua from flying to Kisa East for a thanksgiving ceremony, forcing him to give his speech over the phone.
On December 5, the DCP party held a Thanksgiving ceremony to commemorate the victory of their candidate, Aduda Okwiri.
Okwiri won the Kisa East Ward Member of County Assembly seat in the November 27, 2025, by-election.
DCP head Gachagua Gachagua was scheduled to preside over the ceremony, but was unable to do so because of issues in chartering a flight to Kakamega, according to party officials led by deputy party leader Cleophas Malala.
“Gachagua had paid for his chopper, but they went to threaten the company that owns the chopper, saying that they [govt] will stop doing business with it,” Malala claimed.

Malala also stated that Gachagua went ahead and booked another chopper, but the helicopter owners claimed it had technical problems.
This prompted him to explore reserving a fixed-wing plane to Kisumu Airport, but his attempts were reportedly ineffective.
Gachagua corroborated these statements in a phone call to Kisa East Ward residents during the homecoming festivities.
“All the planes that I had booked were not allowed to let me use them, but it is OK,” Gachagua told the residents in his phone call address.
Kiambu County Senator Karungo Wa Thang’wa argued that the government was responsible for Gachagua’s travel problems.

Thang’wa further accused President Ruto of intimidating businessmen and mandating who they should conduct business with.
The DCP party leader has promised to visit Kisa East in 2026, claiming that he will outsmart political opponents who try to prevent him from traveling.
On Sunday, November 30, Gachagua attended another Thanksgiving ceremony in Kariobangi North for DCP’s David Warui, who won the MCA seat in the just-concluded by-elections.
Gachagua’s DCP party also won the Narok Town Ward by-election, where their candidate, Douglas Masikonde, defeated UDA’s Robert Kanyike with 6,007 votes to Kanyike’s 4,479.
