“Gladys Wanga Wants To Impeach Me!” – Homa Bay Deputy Governor Alleges
Homa Bay Deputy Governor Joseph Magwanga now says that his boss, Governor Gladys Wanga, is planning impeachment proceedings against him.
This comes as the schism within the Homa Bay County leadership deepens following the Kasipul by-elections.
In an interview with NTV on December 5, Magwanga revealed that the governor had sponsored an impeachment resolution in the Homa Bay County Assembly to remove him.
He also stated that he was prepared for the impeachment motion against him.
“They want to impeach me, and I am calling upon them to bring it, and we shall see how it will actually end,” he said.

Magwanga further stated that if the impeachment petition against him fails, he will file a counter-impeachment move against Governor Wanga.
“Should it fail, I will also initiate mine, because she knows me and I know her,” Magwanga said.
Magwanga alleged that the conflict between him and Governor Wanga began before the Kasipul by-elections.
He endorsed Independent Candidate Philip Aroko over ODM candidate Boyd Were.
Magwanga claims he first noticed the red flags during the devolution conference held in Homa Bay in August, when he alleges his office was mistreated.
“You can remember when we were having DevCon, the Governor failed to recognize me but recognized her husband and the Majority Leader; that means that I have no role in the County Government,” Magwanga claimed.

Following the by-elections, Wanga reshuffled his cabinet, removing the deputy governor from his position as CECM of the Agriculture Department.
Magwanga also says that he has been refused access to his post as deputy governor.
He claims that on December 1, 2025, his office was shut and obstructed by goons.
Governor Wanga has faced criticism for her actions against her deputy, with Luo elders in the county also calling her out.
