CCTV Video Reveals Last Moments Of 12-Year-Old Found Dead In An Embakasi Estate

Harrowing CCTV evidence has revealed the last known whereabouts of a 12-year-old Grade 7 student before she was discovered killed on Saturday, December 6.

Patience Mumbe, a student, was discovered dead in the KAA estate in Embakasi, which detectives suspect was a homicide, especially after new evidence emerged.

Patience may be seen sprinting from her Pipeline Estate home to Outering Road in one of the CCTV footages.

At this point, nothing seemed unusual, and the time on the video read 6:34 p.m.

Another camera records the girl walking hurriedly across the estate, still heading towards Outering Road. At this moment, Mumbe had slowed.

Mumbe had lowered her speed and was now walking quickly rather than running.

Mumbe looked behind her as she walked, as if to verify she wasn’t being followed.

Finally, about two minutes after the first footage, a third clip recorded Mumbe moving towards a matatu terminus known as the Taj Mall.

According to the CCTV footage, there was no immediate sign that anyone was trailing her. Mumbe was clothed in a white shirt and black jeans when she disappeared.

The final clip showed Mumbe heading at the heart of the matatu terminus, and that was the last sighting before she was reported missing, only for her body to be discovered barely 48 hours later.

According to one witness, there were signs that the deceased suffered a brutal attack since her hands and legs were bound with rope.

One of the biggest suggestions of an assault was the fact that there was bleeding on her face and private areas.

Since Mumbe’s death, Embakasi detectives have collaborated with the Nairobi Area Crime Unit to conduct an investigation.

On Sunday, a day after her death was discovered, officers returned to the crime scene to undertake a thorough search for any more evidence that could help identify the perpetrators.

In addition to CCTV footage, police are scrutinizing car movements and communication records from the neighborhood as they look for new clues.

Worryingly, this is the fourth kidnapping of a child in the Embakasi neighborhood in less than a month, leaving residents fearful ahead of the Christmas season.
