“Without Raila, You’re Nothing Politically!” – Karua Tells Ruto
People’s Liberation Party (PLP) leader Martha Karua now claims that President William Ruto’s government is on the verge of collapse following the death of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
During an interview with TV47 on December 23, Karua asserted that Ruto’s government was stable because of the late Prime Minister.
“If there is someone heavily bereaved politically, it is Ruto,” Karua claimed.
“Without Baba’s presence, he will not get unified support. Even now, he is not so sure that he can make it another year.”
According to Karua, Raila’s absence will have a huge impact on the approaching 2027 General Elections.
According to the PLP leader, Ruto’s political career is dependent on his alliance with Raila’s ODM party.
Karua also suggests that realignments in the ODM party could hurt the President, citing internal disagreements about the party’s ties with Ruto.
The party leader went on to explain her final talk with Raila before his death, alleging that the former Prime Minister stated that he was uneasy with his connection with Ruto.
Karua stated that she wanted Raila to leave President Ruto’s cabinet and let it collapse.
The PLP leader claimed she had given Raila time to consider her proposition.
“I told him I don’t want an answer today, I’m leaving it with you to think, but he did say he was very uncomfortable,” she claimed.
During the interview, Karua accused President Ruto of authoritarianism and chastised the administration for allegedly failing to protect its people arrested in neighbouring nations.
Karua believes that the November by-elections taught the opposition to be more vigilant, while asserting that the President will serve one term.
