Following an operation in the Makina area, officers from the National Police Service have stepped up their crackdown on illicit beverages and narcotics in Nairobi’s Kibra Sub-County.

In a statement issued on Monday, December 29, the NPS stated that investigators had captured four people of interest and seized three bales of suspected cannabis sativa.

A car suspected of transporting the drugs was also seized.

”The suspects have been placed in custody pending processing and arraignment in court,” the statement said in part.

“The National Police Service reiterates its commitment to combating the trafficking and distribution of illicit drugs, which continue to pose a serious threat to public safety and community well-being.”

This comes shortly after NPS officers at Shaurimoyo Police Station, Buruburu Sub-County, confiscated 800 litres of illicit brew (chang’aa) on Saturday, December 27, during a targeted operation in the Majengo slums to combat the illicit alcohol trade.

According to an NPS statement made on Sunday, December 28, investigators stormed a suspected den and successfully seized the illicit booze, which was disguised in plastic bags.

According to the statement, one person of interest was apprehended and is being held in police custody for arraignment.
