Dead Former RMS Intern’s Family Reveals Foul Play After CCTV Footage
Three weeks after his disappearance and a week after his body was discovered at Nairobi Funeral Home, Derrick Omanga Tom’s family is demanding the arrest of those who last saw him before his death.
Omanga formerly worked as a digital marketing manager and intern at Royal Media Services.
Derrick’s body was discovered at the Roysambu roundabout around 2 a.m. on December 6, following an evening of merrymaking with two other persons.
The three were caught on CCTV footage at a liquor store on Ngong Road.
The CCTV footage at Wine Tails on Ngong Road shows Derrick Omanga’s final moments on December 5, the day he went missing.
At 10:37 p.m., Derrick is seen going upstairs while holding a woman’s hand, while another male with a cap follows them closely.
In the second film, he staggers and leans on a woman outside a booze store.

Once inside, he asks the seller to hand over his bag, which he appears to have left behind.
She answers the door and passes the bag to Derrick’s pal. He insists on checking the bag first before departing. The woman agrees, and Derrick takes the bag to make sure everything is okay.
Meanwhile, the man in a cap is seen filling a cup with a drink and passing it to the woman.
The three then leave, this time with the man in a cap leading the way. He is followed by the woman, who is carrying Derrick’s bag, and Derrick, who appears tipsy.
The man in a cap is again seen giving the woman a drink in a cup. This was the last time the digital marketing manager at a tour and travel agency was captured alive.
Reports indicate that the party later moved to a club along Thika Road, where the woman excused herself after reportedly feeling unwell and went home.
She allegedly left Derrick with the man with a cap, who is claimed to have joined them on Ngong Road while they were partying.
“Inakuaje wewe mtu amekununulia vinywaji kutoka saa kumi na mbili mpaka saa nne usiku, amekulipia bill zote, alafu unaweza enda umwache na mtu hujui kama umesense danger? Kwa nini hungeenda na ule ulikuwa naye?” Derrick’s father Josephat Omanga said.
Three hours later, Derrick’s lifeless body was discovered at the Roysambu roundabout.
Police who transferred the body to Nairobi Funeral Home said that the 25-year-old was an accident victim, which the family disputes.
“Nilikua huko tarehe tisa sikumpata. Imekuwaje tena amepatikana tarehe sita? Nimerudi huko mara tatu nikienda city na sikuwa nampata, na sikuwa naenda peke yangu,” Margaret Omanga, Derrick’s mother lamented.
A postmortem examination found that the fatality was caused by several injuries sustained from blunt force trauma.

“Human rights, LSK tusaidie tupate haki, kwa sababu ya unyonge hatupelekwi vile inastahili. Tangu mtoto apatikane, hao watu wangekuwa arrested,” his father added.

Detectives have also summoned more people who were in communication with Derrick before he died.
