Survivors From Horrific Konza City Multi-Vehicle Accident Speak
Survivors of the catastrophic Nairobi-Mombasa Highway tragedy, which claimed eight lives, have broken their silence to narrate the frightening events that transformed their lives.
The multi-vehicle crash occurred at 11 p.m. on Friday, January 2, in the Konza City region of Machakos County.
One survivor, who was riding on a shuttle, described the terrible incident, which left him with numerous injuries.
“Our driver is the one who was at fault because he wanted to overtake another car, which led to the Nissan colliding with the bus head-on,” the victim revealed.

The collision involved a Loitoktok-bound shuttle, a lorry, and a Tahmeed bus from Mombasa, and killed six people, with two others dying from injuries while being brought to the hospital.
Dr. Daniel Katuya, Medical Superintendent of Machakos Level 5 Hospital, stated that 17 individuals were evacuated from the area.
He added that the survivors had been treated and dismissed.
The survivor, still in anguish, expressed appreciation for his life despite his injuries.
“I am experiencing pain in my chest and arms, and even walking is difficult. I thank God because I was not among those who died,” he stated.

Witnesses described the scene as devastating, with vehicles severely destroyed and victims trapped inside the wreckage.
Several passengers suffered significant injuries and were left on the ground, awaiting assistance.
Authorities confirmed that all of the reported casualties were passengers on the shuttle that was involved in the tragedy.
A road traffic accident occurred along Mombasa Road near Konza City at approximately 2205 hours, involving a bus and a 19-seater Nissan vehicle.

The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has announced that it is examining the circumstances surrounding the accident while survivors continue to receive care.
