“You Are a Coward!” – Moses Kuria To Gachagua Ahead of Githunguri Service
The battle for political domination on Mt. Kenya has taken a dramatic turn as former Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria publicly challenged Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua to visit his homeland.
“I dare you to step foot in my home ground if you are a man,” Moses Kuria dared.
The dare comes ahead of Gachagua’s scheduled visit to Githunguri Constituency on Sunday, January 4, 2026.

Gachagua is scheduled to attend a worship service at AIPCA Karatina worship before heading to the Komothai Super Cup at PCEA Kagema Primary School in Kibicho.
Kuria’s post was in reaction to Jamleck M Kihiu, a 2027 MCA candidate for Komothai Ward in Kiambu County, Kuria’s stronghold.
As the 2027 general election approaches, the two have become entangled in an intensifying competition over the influence and domination of the Mt Kenya vote bloc.
Kuria escalated the confrontation on Saturday, January 3, 2025, and accused Gachagua of instigating the violence.
“Mr Rigathi Gachagua, you are a coward, a despot, and a dangerous man. From today, prepare for battle royale. You crossed the red line,” Kuria declared.
He brought up the alleged assault on Lamu Woman Representative Muthoni Marubu.

Kuria has also stated that Gachagua organized his departure from the Cabinet and subsequent reassignment to the Ministry of Investments, Trade, and Industry.
He later resigned from a government advisory role in July 2025.

Gachagua, on his part, has described Kuria as a “project” of the presidency intended at severing Mt. Kenya’s political cohesiveness.
Kuria has criticized Gachagua’s leadership as “backward and primitive,” accusing him of promoting “raw tribalism.”
The power struggle has played out through heated public exchanges on social media and in interviews.
With Gachagua’s Sunday visit to Kuria’s backyard looming, all eyes are on whether the political showdown will escalate further.
