Matiang’i Blasts Ruto’s Extravagant Expenditure, Vows Strict Changes If Elected
Jubilee presidential flagbearer Fred Matiang’i has criticised what he described as excessive government spending at State House Nairobi, pledging to significantly reduce the budget if elected.
Speaking during a church service at Weithaga ACK Church in Murang’a County on Sunday, Matiang’i questioned the growing allocation to the executive compared to other public institutions such as the Kenya National Trading Corporation.
He said government spending should prioritise essential services and development programmes.
“Why should State House require more funding than some key public institutions?” he posed, adding that public resources should be managed prudently.
The former Interior Cabinet Secretary said that if elected, he would reduce the State House budget by up to 80 per cent and redirect funds to priority sectors of the economy.
Matiang’i also raised concerns about what he described as policy uncertainty in the education sector, saying Kenyans expect clearer direction and consistent solutions from the government.
