Tributes Pour As The World Mourns Hollywood Legend, Chuck Norris
Tributes have begun pouring in after movie star and Hollywood legend Chuck Norris died at 86 on Friday, March 20.
In a heartfelt message shared on his Instagram, his family confirmed his passing to his fans.
The family noted that he passed earlier this morning, and he was surrounded by his family and friends during his passing.
“It is with heavy hearts that our family shares the sudden passing of our beloved Chuck Norris yesterday morning,” noted the family.
“While we would like to keep the circumstances private, please know that he was surrounded by his family and was at peace.”
The family further revealed that his passing was from a long illness that he was suffering from, which resulted in months of hospitalisation in a hospital in Hawaii.
“We know many of you had heard about his recent hospitalisation, and we are truly grateful for the prayers and support you sent his way,” stated the family.
For many millennials in Kenya, Chuck Norris became the go-to action hero when the then widely viewed Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) introduced the series Walker, Texas Ranger.
Norris starred in the popular show that aired for much of the mid-2000s, during the glorious age of KBC’s dominance.
Walker, Texas Ranger was featured in the 2005 programme lineup for KBC Channel 1.
The show was part of a golden era of entertainment on KBC that included other hits such as WWE Wrestling, Vitimbi, and Vioja Mahakamani.
Kenyans all over have flooded his social media accounts with tributes to the legend.
They described him as a role model who brought joy and shaped their childhoods while also expressing how saddened they are by the reports of his sudden passing.
One Kenyan stated, “Rest in peace to one of the greatest ever. Thanks for all you’ve been and inspired.”
Another fan stated, “Thank you, Mr Norris; you solidified how hard I work and love martial arts. Thank you for inspiring me when I was a kid. Your art lives on through all of us forever.”
