DCI Officers Foil Robbery Plot Involving A KDF Personnel, Military Fatigue Recovered
Detectives have foiled a planned robbery targeting a senior military officer in Kitengela.
They arrested six suspects, among them military personel in a coordinated intelligence-led operation.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) revealed on Thursday, March 26, that the suspects are part of a criminal syndicate involving serving Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) personnel and civilian accomplices.
According to the DCI, the operation was triggered by credible intelligence received on Monday, March 23, indicating that a robbery was imminent.
This prompted the detectives to immediately place the suspects under close surveillance, tracking their movements and monitoring their preparations ahead of the planned attack.
On the day of the planned robbery, the suspects are reported to have arrived at the target location in a black Toyota Harrier, while a Toyota Ractis was positioned nearby with a driver on standby.
Investigators believe the two vehicles were strategically placed as part of a coordinated escape plan.
In a calculated move, a female suspect alighted from the Harrier and approached the main gate under the pretext of seeking access.
However, detectives who had already secured the area moved in swiftly and arrested her, triggering a rapid interception of both vehicles by backup teams.
The suspects arrested include a KDF sergeant stationed at Kahawa Garrison and a civilian mechanic attached to KDF at Kahawa Barracks.
Others include a KDF service member currently on interdiction, and three other suspects who stay in Umoja, Tala, and the lady who stays in Umoja Inner Core in Nairobi.

All six suspects are currently in custody as detectives continue with processing and interrogation to establish their roles and the extent of their involvement in the planned robbery.
A search conducted at the scene led to the recovery of several items believed to have been intended for use in the crime.
These include KDF jungle uniforms, military boots, a crowbar, a claw hammer, a knife, pliers, and multiple mobile phones.
Investigators have since processed the scene and launched further inquiries to uncover the full scope of the syndicate’s operations.
