Double Night Fires Destroy Property Worth Millions
Property worth millions was destroyed after a late-night fire broke out at a Fourways petrol station along Kiambu Road, causing panic and massive losses.
The fire, which erupted on the night of Wednesday, April 1, at approximately 10:15pm, quickly spread across the station, engulfing sections of the facility and surrounding property.
Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi ordered all available county emergency response vehicles to immediately proceed to the scene, with at least three fire engines arriving to contain the blaze.
Eyewitnesses claimed the fire may have started during the offloading of fuel from a tanker, though the exact cause has not yet been officially established.
Emergency response teams worked through the night, battling the flames that posed a significant threat to nearby infrastructure and motorists using the busy Kiambu Road.
Several vehicles parked near the station were reduced to shells, with reports indicating at least five cars were completely burnt.
A nearby Pizza Inn outlet was also consumed by the fire, pointing to the extent of the destruction caused by the inferno.
At the time of the incident, emergency responders and authorities had warned motorists to avoid the affected section of Kiambu Road to allow emergency teams unobstructed access, as containment efforts continued into the night.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, a fire at Lang’ata Women’s Prison affected staff residential houses, displacing about 20 families.
Prison authorities confirmed that inmates were safe and unharmed, as assessments continue to determine the cause and full extent of damage in both incidents.
The incident comes just a month after a massive fire broke out in Ruiru, Biashara Ward, on the morning of Sunday, February 8, destroying property of unknown value.
The blaze, which was reported in the early morning hours, broke out near the entrance of the municipality offices, next to the Ruiru Chief’s offices.
Witnesses reported hearing an explosion before the fire broke out, suggesting it may have been caused by a gas leak.
