Details Revealed Of Ruto’s 3-Day Visit To Italy
President William Ruto is set to depart the country for a three-day official visit to Italy this week, aimed at strengthening Kenya’s long-standing bilateral relations with the European nation.
Last week, the President announced that the trip would also seek to secure approximately Ksh1 billion to support the upgrade of Nyamira County Referral Hospital.
However, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has shed more light on President Ruto’s planned engagements in Italy.
Mudavadi stated that the visit will extend beyond the proposed funding and is intended to advance broader strategic interests between Kenya and Italy.
Mudavadi said the engagements will focus on deepening Kenya’s partnerships with Europe, with key discussions centred on trade, investment, labour mobility, and enhanced multilateral cooperation.
The meeting will emphasise strengthening economic ties with Italian institutions and private sector actors.
While main discussions will be centred on infrastructure financing, renewable energy collaboration and expanding the market for Kenyan agricultural exports.
Key anticipated outcomes include the mobilisation of financing for priority government projects, the signing of new Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs), and the acceleration of existing bilateral agreements aimed at boosting economic cooperation.
Preparations are firmly in place ahead of H.E. President @WilliamsRuto’s upcoming State Visit to Italy, following a detailed executive briefing on the priorities and expected outcomes of the visit.

They have focused their cooperation on agricultural development, renewable energy, ICT development and infrastructure development.
It is worth noting that Italy supported the construction of the Itare Dam, among other projects, in Kenya.
The two countries have also partnered in security and justice, with cooperation being reinforced to address regional security, transnational crime, and maritime security through institutional linkages.
