“Stop Launching Other People’s Work!” – Kenyans Blast Ruto After Kiharu TVC Relaunch
President William Ruto is on the spot for taking credit for developments carried out by other leaders in the country.
The head of state has recently been accused of relaunching projects previously launched by a member of parliament.
During his recent tour in Murang’a County, particularly in Kiharu constituency, on Friday, April 24, Ruto visited the Kiharu Technical and Vocational College (TVC), where he commissioned an ICT hub and launched construction of student hostels at the facility.
The president presented the developments as part of the government’s investment in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) centres.
It is worth noting that Ruto’s move comes a month after Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro officially launched the institution after the completion of the tuition block by the NG-CDF, marking the start of operations of the facility.
During the March 2026 launch, Nyoro had a plaque bearing his name as the leader who developed the facility.

NTV has released a tape showing how the Kiharu TVET was used for Kiharu visit by the president.

However, during Ruto’s tour of the facility, the plaque commemorating Nyoro’s earlier launch of the facility was covered with tape, as seen in videos that have since gone viral on social media.
In the video, locals were later seen removing the tapes, and the plaque clearly bore Ndindi Nyoro’s name.
Due to this, the head of state is accused of taking credit for the project as his own initiative rather than the MP’s flagship initiative.

Further questions also arose when Nyoro failed to accompany the president during his visit to the facility.

Ruto and Nyoro have in recent times been political enemies, especially after the 2024 finance bill protests that made Nyoro drop as the chair of the budget and appropriations committee.
The Kiharu MP has challenged Ruto’s policies, accusing him of putting his personal interests before the benefits of the people.
Before they turned on each other, Nyoro was once considered Ruto’s successor, especially in 2032, following their close relationship.
Ruto, at one point, confessed that Nyoro was one of the young leaders he was personally mentoring.
After their fallout, Nyoro has launched several infrastructure projects in his constituency, functions that have been boycotted by government officials.
