Pastor Kanyari Announces MP Bid In 2027
Controversial city preacher Pastor Victor Kanyari has announced his bid to contest for a parliamentary seat in Nairobi in the 2027 General Election.
Speaking during the elevation service attended by Democracy for Citizens Party boss Rigathi Gachagua in Ruai, Nairobi County, on Saturday, May 9, Kanyari said he intends to vie for the Kasarani constituency seat.
While he did not explicitly state the party he will use, Kanyari appeared to praise the former Deputy President during his remarks, sparking speculation over his political alignment.
“How many love Gachagua? I really admire him. I am vying for the office of the Member of Parliament in Kasarani,” Kanyari said.

The preacher, who leads Salvation Healing Ministry in Kayole, Nairobi, has in the past attracted both attention and controversy over his ministry practices.
He first rose to national fame following a 2014 exposé that accused him of staging miracles, including the use of potassium permanganate in what was presented as ‘blood miracles’.

Kanyari is also widely known for his ‘310’ seed offering slogan, which was used in fundraising appeals during church services that later sparked public debate.
This is not the first time he has declared political ambitions.
In 2018, Kanyari expressed interest in vying for the Embakasi Central parliamentary seat under a Jubilee Party ticket.

He said at the time that he had already submitted his nomination papers and was ready to serve residents, citing his deep personal connection to the area.
Kanyari also promised to address key challenges facing residents, including water shortages and poor road infrastructure, if elected.
However, he did not make it to the ballot in that election cycle.
Over the years, Kanyari has remained in the public spotlight, often linked to controversies but also engaging in philanthropic activities.
These include buying school uniforms, paying school fees, and supporting water supply initiatives in informal settlements the eastern parts of Nairobi.
