EMURUA DIKIRR: UDA, DCP Supporters Clash During By-Election Voting
One person was injured following a clash between supporters of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) outside Chelemei Polling Station in Kapsasian Ward.
The incident occurred on Thursday, May 14, as residents of Emurua Dikirr headed to the polls, according to Nakuru County Commissioner Reuben Lotiatia.
The two main frontrunners are David Kipsang Keter, popularly known as Dollarline, on the UDA ticket, and Vincent Rotich of the DCP. Keter, a seasoned businessman, is the main contender in the elections.
In the wake of the incident, DCP candidate Keter went to pay the injured person a visit at the hospital.
Further reports indicated that DCP supporters were attacked on their way to polling stations, with their agents denied access before intervention allowed them in, an event that triggered the scuffle.
