Former MP Were’s Son Attacked, Killed In Kisumu
Former Matungu MP David Were lost his child in a night attack on Saturday, May 23, 2026.
The event was reported at Obunga police station on Sunday morning, following the death of Hannington Were, 39.
Hannington and a buddy were walking along Nyerere Road to the Mamba Hotel to get dinner when they were attacked, according to witnesses.
His father stated that the two were rushed to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH). However, Hannington had already died.
“They decided to walk because there were no boda boda along the way. However, when they reached Makini School, they were attacked by boda boda riders,” he said.
