Former PS Appointed To Head Kenyan Embassy In Canada
The Kenyan High Commission in Ottawa, Canada, has announced that Deputy Head of Mission Geoffrey Kaituko will take on the post of interim Chargé d’affaires.
The High Commission announced the leadership shift in a statement, citing the departure of Ambassador Carolyne Kamende Daudi, who had held the role since 2024.
Kaituko, who has served as Deputy Head of Mission in Ottawa for the previous nine months, will now manage the High Commission until a new ambassador is appointed.
“The Kenya High Commission in Ottawa is pleased to announce that Deputy Head of Mission, Amb. Geoffrey E. Kaituko, CBS, has assumed the responsibilities of Chargé d’Affaires ad interim following the departure of H.E. Amb. Carolyne Kamende Daudi,” the statement read.

In his deputy position, he was involved in efforts to develop Kenya’s relations with Canada and advance the country’s diplomatic interests.
“He has also served as Deputy Head of Mission at the Kenya High Commission in Ottawa for the past nine months, contributing significantly to the strengthening of Kenya-Canada relations and the advancement of Kenya’s interests in Canada,” the embassy wrote.
Kaituko has a background in public service and diplomatic experience from previous roles, including serving as Principal Secretary for Labour and Skills Development and for Shipping and Maritime Affairs between 2022 and 2025.

The interim Chargé d’Affaires was later reassigned from his PS role to serve as Deputy Head of Mission in Rome, Italy.
Kaituko also previously served as the first Speaker of the Turkana County Assembly from 2013 to 2017.
The High Commission has expressed intentions to continue cooperation with the Government of Canada and the diplomatic community.
Further, the embassy said it will work closely with the Kenyan diaspora and partners during the transition period.
Kaituko will serve the over 13,000 Kenyan nationals living in Canada, a number that continues to grow each year as more citizens move to the country for employment and study opportunities.
