
A Nairobi MCA Among THREE Suspects Charged With Robbery
On Tuesday, a serving Member of County Assembly (MCA) and two other suspects were charged at the Makadara Law Courts with an alleged violent robbery in Nairobi’s Donholm district.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Viwandani Ward MCA Aaron Kang’ara Wangari, along with Kefa Munyoro and Zablon Kirima Mwangi, were arrested and accused of robbery with violence.
The three are accused of attacking and violently robbing three people in Donholm on June 26, 2026, before fleeing.
The DCI stated that investigations linked the trio to the heist, which led to their arrest and subsequent arraignment in the Makadara Law Courts.

All three suspects pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The court released each of the accused on a bond of Ksh.1 million or an alternative cash bail of Ksh.500,000 pending the hearing and determination of the case.
The case will be mentioned on a date to be set by the court as investigations and trial proceedings continue.

This comes as Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives intensify a crackdown against rampant goons and gun-wielding criminals.
On Monday, July 13, a suspected armed robber, believed to be connected to the recent daylight attack on a popular restaurant in Nairobiβs Spring Valley area, was shot dead during a police operation in Joska, Machakos County.

According to a statement from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), detectives from DCI Headquarters, supported by their colleagues in Matungulu, tracked the suspect to a house in Joska where he had reportedly sought refuge.
The DCI stated, βUpon identifying themselves and ordering the occupants to open the door, the suspect opened fire through a kitchen window, spraying bullets at the officers. Detectives returned fire in self-defence.β
βAfter securing the premises and gaining entry, the detectives discovered the suspect lying fatally wounded inside the house,β the DCI explained.
During the operation, investigators recovered a Beretta pistol loaded with four rounds of 9mm ammunition, along with additional live rounds, spent cartridges, and three mobile phones.
