Ruto PS Responds To 2027 Trans Nzoia Governor Bid Rumours
Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary Korir Sing’Oei has denied rumors that he plans to run for Trans Nzoia governor in the 2027 general election.
In a statement released on Monday, July 20, Sing’Oei described the rumors as untrue and advised the people to dismiss them.
The Principal Secretary stated that he has no intention of running for any elective post in 2027.
Sing’Oei argues that his primary goal remains to advance Kenya’s foreign policy goals and promote the government’s development program.

Before adding, “Treat any information to the contrary as false.”
The confirmation comes after speculation on social media, fueled in part by the distribution of a campaign-style poster showing Sing’Oei and President William Ruto.
The PS was also in Trans Nzoia over the weekend, where he inspected several government development projects.
This further fuelled speculation that he was positioning himself for the county’s top seat.

The reports prompted claims that Sing’Oei was preparing to challenge Governor George Natembeya in the 2027 General Election.

However, his latest statement distances him from the speculation, insisting that he remains focused on his role at the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs.
The Trans Nzoia governorship is expected to be among the closely watched contests in the 2027 polls, with political interest in the seat continuing to grow.
Governor Natembeya, who was elected on a Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) ticket in 2022, has been a vocal critic of President Ruto’s administration.
Natembeya has frequently clashed with leaders allied to the Kenya Kwanza government, including National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula.
His outspoken stance has fuelled speculation that Kenya Kwanza will back a strong candidate to challenge him in the next election as it seeks to strengthen its influence in the Western region.
Among those who have publicly declared interest in the seat is former Health Cabinet Secretary Susan Nakhumicha.
