Police Issue Fresh Details On Margaret Wambui’s Death From Apartment Fall
Detectives have ruled out any third-party involvement in the killing of Margaret Wambui, 21.
On Saturday, July 18, Wambui died after falling from the roof of the Altura Apartments in Nairobi’s Upper Hill.
Investigators concluded after studying CCTV footage from the 34-story building, while they continue to investigate the tragedy.
According to the film, Wambui entered the building shortly after 8 p.m. and went to the rooftop, where she spent more than 40 minutes shooting photographs.
According to investigators, the footage shows Wambui standing near the edge of the rooftop prior to the deadly plunge.

Investigators revealed that a security guard patrolling the area took a brief break to use the restroom at the time.
A post-mortem examination conducted at the Nairobi Funeral Home confirmed that Wambui died from multiple severe fractures sustained during the fall.
The examination established that she died immediately after the impact, according to findings shared with her family.

Wambui’s relatives attended the autopsy alongside a pathologist they had appointed to witness the procedure.
The family has called on the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to conclude the probe and provide clarity on the events leading to her death.
Maina Gathogo, a relative, said they want access to more details from the investigation, including the footage that captured her final moments.
“There is CCTV footage showing what happened during the incident. We would like to review it as a family so that we can understand exactly what transpired and find closure,” he said.
The death has left Wambui’s family and friends mourning the loss of a young woman who was pursuing a career in the hospitality industry, with relatives now preparing for her burial.
Authorities are expected to provide further updates once the inquiry into the circumstances of her death is complete.
