Fresh Details emerge From Fatal Stabbing Near Nyayo Stadium, Victim’s Family Demands Justice

Fresh details have emerged on the fatal road rage incident that claimed the life of 30-year-old Kennedy N’geno near Nyayo National Stadium.

Ng’eno’s family alleges that what began as a minor traffic collision quickly escalated into a violent confrontation that ended in a fatal stabbing.

The deceased had travelled to Nairobi from his rural home in Roret, Kericho County, on Friday.

According to his relatives, he first stopped at his cousin’s home in Uthiru, where they spent time together before going out for drinks.

Later that evening, they headed towards Pipeline, with the deceased travelling separately from his cousin and friends.

However, what was expected to be a routine journey took a tragic turn along Mombasa Road after a minor traffic accident reportedly escalated into violence.

According to the family, the trouble began when an online taxi driver allegedly rammed into their vehicle from behind, forcing them to stop by the roadside to assess the damage.

A cousin of the deceased recounted that instead of resolving the matter, the driver allegedly became aggressive, walked towards their vehicle and smashed the windscreen.

“We were on the highway, and this guy hit our car, so we moved to the side and parked the vehicle,” the cousin said.

“He then came forward and hit our windscreen. We realised he was violent and decided to drive away.”

He added that after driving about 50 metres ahead, they called the deceased to explain what had happened, informing him that another motorist had hit their vehicle from behind and shattered the windscreen.

Then the deceased reportedly advised them to stop again and ask the driver why he had become aggressive.

Moments later, the deceased arrived at the scene and got into an argument with the taxi driver before the suspect allegedly retrieved a knife from his vehicle, stabbed him and fled, leaving another person injured during the confrontation.

The family said they immediately rushed the injured man to Mbagathi Hospital but were allegedly informed that he could not be treated there and were referred to Kenyatta National Hospital.

“When we realised he was injured, we rushed him to Mbagathi Hospital, but they told us we would not get any help there, so we took him to Kenyatta National Hospital,” the cousin recalled.

Despite efforts to save his life, he was pronounced dead at Kenyatta National Hospital.

Friends and relatives later gathered at the hospital’s mortuary to identify his body and begin funeral arrangements.

The suspect, whose vehicle was identified by police, fled the scene after the stabbing and remains at large.

Makadara OCPD Judith Nyongesa said detectives have since obtained the suspect’s details from the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), which investigators believe will be crucial in tracking him down.
