“I Will Never Forget Raila’s True Friends!” – Sifuna Says Referring To Kalonzo
Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has vowed not to abandon Wiper Patriotic Front leader Kalonzo Musyoka and other politicians he described as former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s true friends.
Sifuna said Kalonzo and Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua remained among Raila’s close allies, recalling their political partnership over several election cycles.
Speaking during a meeting with Kitui residents, Sifuna also backed Wambua’s bid to become the next Kitui governor.
The ODM secretary-general said his relationship with Raila’s allies would not change, despite calls for him and others to move on from the former Prime Minister’s political associations.
“I have been to Kitui County many times courtesy of Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua,” Sifuna said.
“I pray to God that he goes before you in the journey you have started now. I pray that you fulfil your goal of becoming the Kitui Governor.”
Before adding, “You personally know me; you know that there is no day I will forget my friends, there is no day that I will forget the Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s friends.”
Sifuna singled out Kalonzo and Wambua, saying they stood by Raila during several presidential election campaigns.
“Wiper Patriotic Front Leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Senator Wambua were Raila’s true friends; there is no day I shall forget them,” he said.
He criticised those urging them to abandon Kalonzo, arguing that the Wiper leader had stood with Raila in the 2013, 2017 and 2022 elections.
Sifuna questioned why they should abandon Kalonzo after years of political cooperation.
“There are some people who are telling us that we should forget Raila’s true friends. Kalonzo walked with Raila in 2013, 2017 and 2022,” he said.

“And then you get a new sponsor, you come and tell us to leave Kalonzo alone, whom we have gone through a lot of problems together.”
Sifuna said his differences with some members of the ODM party stemmed partly from his position on Raila’s political allies.
“The main problem between me and the ODM is that I said I know who the true friends of Raila were, and we are not leaving soon,” he said.
Kalonzo on Monday expressed his willingness to engage with Nairobi Senator Sifuna as his running mate in the upcoming general election.
The WPF Party leader said that his decision is informed by the opposition’s common goal to oust President William Ruto.
Kalonzo said that provided the opposition remains united to the elections, they will be victorious with an excess of 70 per cent.
“I have no problem deputising Sifuna, but you must take into account Kenya’s demographics,” said Kalonzo during an interview at NTV.
