KHALIF KAIRO: From Business Flamboyancy To Kshs.12M WeFunder Account Shut Down

Troubled city vehicle trader Khalif Kairo has disclosed that his account worth millions of shillings has been closed, as his problems worsen.

Kairo announced on Wednesday morning that his WeFunder campaign account, which held more than Ksh12.9 million (USD100,000), had been closed the night before.

Kairo ascribed the closure to a series of continuing legal problems, the most recent of which is a case before the High Court of Kenya, Milimani Division, in Nairobi.

“I am currently in Milimani Law Courts and will be presented for plea-taking shortly,” Kairo shared.

“Due to these legal issues, our WeFunder campaign account was shut down last night after crossing the USD 100,000 (Ksh12.9 million) mark.”

The car dealer launched the WeFunder campaign account on Monday of this week, and it was only around 24 hours old before it was closed.

However, due to privacy regulations governing financial account information, our independent investigations were unable to objectively validate his closure claims.

Kairo, who has been involved in multiple legal battles over failed auto sales business ventures, spent much of the last few days of last year and early this year defending himself.

However, he insists that the rising legal proceedings are the result of unrelated financial concerns and continues to defend himself against the accusations.

According to the vehicle dealer, the ongoing issues that have badly harmed his brand have resulted in the closing of his offices.

“We have tried everything in our ability to try to resolve these issues amicably and ensure we do deliveries but the negative media publicity and constant police involvement are putting us in deeper waters and severely affecting our ability to operate. All our offices are currently closed,” Kairo shared

“I have had an impressive ten-year run in business with zero criminal cases pertaining to cars and thousands of people have successfully bought cars from me,” he added.

The ‘boastful’ vehicle dealer is known for his eye-catching online car sales marketing exploits, which have garnered him a significant following.

Kairo will appear in court today after being arrested again yesterday by plain-clothes police operatives immediately after attending another court session at Nairobi’s Milimani Law Courts.
