IEBC Selection Panel Invited Kenyans To Apply For Top Roles
The Selection Panel for IEBC Chairperson and Commissioners has officially asked Kenyans to apply for the positions by February 15.
According to the law, the panel has 90 days from the date of its swearing-in to finish the recruiting process and submit the names of qualified candidates to the President.
“The selection panel for the recruitment of nominees for appointment as the Chairperson and Commissioners of the IEBC invites applications from qualified persons who meet the requirements of the Constitution and the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Act,” reads part of the notice issued on Saturday, February 1.

The group, chaired by Nelson Makanda, is working against the clock to choose the IEBC Chairperson and six commissioners to resume important functions that have been blocked due to the commission’s absence.
In a public notice posted on Saturday, the selection panel detailed the extensive requirements required of applicants.
To be considered for the IEBC Chairperson position, a candidate must have at least 15 years of experience as a Superior Court Judge or as a prominent academic, judicial officer, legal practitioner, or in another legally relevant profession.
One must meet the leadership and integrity standards specified in Chapter Six of the Constitution.
An individual is ineligible for the job if they have served or stood for election as a Member of Parliament (MP) or Member of County Assembly (MCA) within the previous five years.
Those who have served on the governing board of a political party or held a public position during the last five years are ineligible.
To become an IEBC Commissioner, a candidate must have a degree from a recognized university.
One must also have demonstrated expertise and at least ten years of experience in electoral concerns, management, finance, governance, public administration, law, information and communication technology, or accounting.
Applicants must meet the Constitution’s Chapter Six integrity criteria.
All applicants must include official academic certificates, a curriculum vitae (CV), a national ID or passport, and any other relevant testimonies.
Applicants must present clearance certificates from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), Higher Education Loans Board (HELB), Credit Reference Bureau (CRB), Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), and Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).

Eligible candidates can submit their applications in person to the Selection Panel Chairperson’s office, which is located on the third floor of the County House Building on Parliament Road.
They can also do so online and email the PDF file to iebcselectionpanel2025@parliament.go.ke.
After receiving applications, the Selection Panel will analyze them and choose qualifying individuals for interviews.
All applicants’ names, as well as the interview schedule for selected candidates, will be published in print media, the Kenya Gazette, and on the Parliamentary Service Commission’s website.
