Reprieve For Super Metro As Court Removes Its Suspension
Super Metro will resume operations after the court removed the suspension imposed by the National Transport and Safety Authority.
The Transport Licensing Appeal Board issued a ruling on Monday, March 24, 2025, allowing the transport firm to resume operations immediately.
“An interim order is hereby issued staying the execution/enforcement/ operation of the decision of the respondents dated March 18, 2025, suspending the operation of the appellant herein Super Metro Sacco Limited as a PSV operator,” the order by board chairman Adrian Kamotho read in part.
“The appellant is at liberty to immediately resume operations in due compliance with the law.”

The respondent in the motion is the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA).
Kamotho also directed that the paper be served on the Inspector General of Police forthwith. NTSA ceased super metro operations on Thursday.
While suspending the PSV operation, the NTSA stated that the move was made to ensure the company’s compliance with road safety regulations.
The suspension became effective on March 20, 2025.
“This is to notify the Public that the Authority has suspended Super Metro Limited’s operator license until the Company fully complies with the Public Service Vehicles Regulations, 2014 and other set conditions,” NTSA said in a statement.
“The decision was necessitated by the need to ensure the Company is not only compliant but that it has put in place safety measures to protect the lives of its passengers and other road users.”
The NTSA said that the suspension occurred as a result of the operator’s numerous infractions.
This included expired inspection certificates and road service licenses, expired speed limiter certificates, a lack of speed limiter records, and vendor information, among other things.
The authority also alleged that several driver credentials did not match the required standards and were in breach of the regulations governing the operation of public service vehicles.
The government also specified the conditions that Super Metro must achieve in order to have its operating license revived.
The conditions included presenting 294 automobiles with varied offenses to the appropriate speed limiter vendors for compliance assessments.

“The Company must present 294 vehicles with violations for compliance inspection at Likoni Motor Vehicle Inspection Centre and obtain compliance reports for all the vehicles,” NTSA stated in the statement.
“Present 42 drivers, out of the 109 drivers with speed violations, for a retest at the Likoni Driver Test Centre.”
The authority observed that 64 of the Company’s drivers failed a retest on March 10, 2025, resulting in the suspension of their respective driver’s licences.
On Saturday morning, Super Metro Limited presented its fleet for inspection at the Likoni Road motor vehicle inspection center in Nairobi’s industrial sector, as ordered.
