INTOLERANCE! Goons Stone Mt Kenya’s Gachagua Allied Politician After Church Service
On Sunday, March 30, there was drama in Murang’a County when an MCA’s car was brutally destroyed by thugs after a church service.
Hon. Gichobe Mbatia of Kariara Ward MCA escaped unhurt, however his black SUV was severely damaged, with the windshield entirely shattered.
According to accounts, the MCA’s car was attacked with stones when he was attending a church session at Mwagu AIPCA Church.
Some of the panes looked to have been cut with a sharp object.
The incident surprised residents since it highlighted the escalating tensions between area leaders.

Rumours surfaced shortly after Mbatia’s car was destroyed, claiming that an area MP was behind the attack.
Suspicions were heightened by the fact that the goons who destroyed the MCA’s vehicle did not approach him, implying that the move was an intimidation attempt.
While the motivations and culprits have not been determined, locals feel the incident was politically motivated.
This is because Mbatia expressed a desire to collaborate with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
In January 2025, as Gachagua was about to introduce a new political vehicle, the impeached Deputy President hosted a number of officials at his Wamunyoro mansion, including the Kariara Ward MCA.
Gachagua hosted Mbatia and other MCAs where he clearly implied that the Mount Kenya voting bloc supported him.

“The voice of the people is at the grassroots. Our Constitution 2010 remains a game-changer in the creation and empowerment of the MCAs, who at all times are the voice of the people,” Gachagua stated.
Mbatia, who earned his seat on a UDA ticket, demonstrated his strong relationship with the former Deputy President on February 28 by sharing a photo of himself and Gachagua with a birthday message.
Following the event, several local leaders have accused political malice, with some claiming that the MCA is being attacked by Gachagua supporters.
Incidentally, the drama occurs at a time when President William Ruto is preparing to explore the Mount Kenya region beginning April 1.
