Ruto Fires Kenyan Diplomat In India After Son’s Assault Case
The son of a Kenyan diplomat who was recently accused of defiling a minor in India has apparently fled the Asian country without being tried.
According to the Hindustan Times, the diplomat, whose name is unknown, fled for the country with his embattled son after President William Ruto’s administration terminated his employment in India.
The decision to depart India comes over ten months after the diplomat’s son was initially accused of defiling a 5-year-old girl on a school bus in August 2023.

Addressing the Indian press on Wednesday, April 2, the victim’s father disclosed that the country’s officials informed him that the diplomat had already left the country with his son.
“We were informed by authorities last week that the accused and his family had departed India. This is deeply disappointing, as we believe he had assaulted at least six minor girls,” the victim’s father said.
He did, however, mention that, despite the incident, the daughter was doing well, and that the minor’s educational institution had been moved to prevent a repetition of such.
A person familiar with the situation further revealed that, despite the horrible deed, the son could not be detained due to diplomatic immunity, which protects diplomats from arrest or prosecution in foreign nations.
According to the source, the Indian government has repeatedly asked the Kenyan government to waive diplomatic immunity in order to allow the accused to be prosecuted, but Ruto’s administration has been hesitant to do so.
The latest development comes weeks after protests erupted in India on February 7 outside the school where the 12-year-old diplomat’s son committed the crime.

While demonstrating, the protesters accused the Indian government of allegedly failing to take action despite being informed about the incident when it first took place.
“He sexually abused her in August last year. This has happened twice,” the father’s girl lamented.
“One day, she complained of frequent urination, and we took her to a doctor. Two doctors confirmed that she had been sexually assaulted.”
“We went to the school and informed them. They called all students who travelled on the bus, except the accused. We were told that he was on a field trip,” he added.
