Stop Budgeted Graft!’ – Gathoni Wamuchomba Exposes Multi-Million Treasury Theft
Gathoni Wamuchomba, the Member of Parliament for Githunguri, has increased her criticism of Kenya’s Kwanza government.
Wamuchomba accused National Treasury officials of misappropriating Ksh20 million meant for a construction project in her area.
In a statement released on Wednesday, April 9, Wamuchomba stated that the Treasury Principal Secretary (PS) used his position to pocket the Ksh20 million budgeted for the fencing of the Githunguri Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) Institute in 2023.
In a damaging declaration, the MP stated that she was willing to be detained by the police if her suspicions about the PS were proven incorrect.
Its only in Kenya where money disappears even after parliament budgets and approves the budget line.

“Thieves of public money are holed up in the Treasury! In 2023, we allocated Ksh20 million for the fencing of Githunguri TVET. The money disappeared! I have followed since then. The former chair of the budget is my witness,” she alleged.
“PS, in charge of the Treasury should tell us how the money disappeared. If this is not factual, apprehend me now or prove you sent the money to the TTI as required by law. Stop budgeted graft.”
This comes just a few days after the MP was summoned by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) for making “Ruto must go” remarks prior to President William Ruto’s visit to the region.
The outspoken critic of President William Ruto’s administration did not hold back her blows in a viral video when she advised her constituents to shun Ruto’s rally, which was scheduled to pass through the constituency.
“The CCIO Kiambu has, through a telephone call, summoned me because the great people of Githunguri refused to be lured by fake promises and projects that never materialised,” she stated.
On Monday, April 7, the politician came before the DCI and made another claim that her life was in danger.

“There are mercenaries hired by politicians to intimidate, kill, and abduct. I want to announce here that my life is in danger. Anything happening to me – we know who is behind it,” she claimed.
In another exposé on Tuesday, April 8, she claimed that her predecessor interfered with her constituency development projects.
The former MP is accused of utilising his position in the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (CDF) to derail funding in the area.
Neither the PS nor the Government Spokesperson have responded to the claims.
