Kindiki Reveals Reason Behind Kenya’s Slow Economic Growth
Deputy President Kithure Kindiki and National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wa joined a group of Kenya Kwanza officials in asking Machakos locals to ignore former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s politics, describing him as divisive.
Kindiki, who was on a two-day trip to Ukambani, visited women’s groups in Machakos, Kitui, and Makueni.
The DP has advocated for a bottom-up economic approach and highlighted the government’s emphasis on development rather than premature politics.
He urged youth to avoid politicians motivated by personal ambition.
The president’s allies accused Gachagua of deceiving Kalonzo Musyoka, branding him as a fraudulent political strategist and stating that the Wiper leader requires a serious platform to compete for power.

“All communities must peacefully co-exist. We must protect the unity of Kenya by all means possible because this is the only country we have. There is no room for divisions along tribal, religion, gender or age.”

“When President William Ruto was elected, our economy had declined, it was in a bad state because for nearly two years, 2020–2021, no work continued in Kenya or worldwide due to the coronavirus pandemic,” Kindiki noted.

“Businesses were shut down, matatus were parked, there was no cleanliness, no hotels opened, and we couldn’t go to work. It was the corona pandemic that caused the economic damage.”
Ichung’wa, for his part, stated that the former deputy president is concerned about MPs’ efforts to band together to help the vulnerable.

He challenged him to have a clear political strategy rather than criticizing others.
“William Ruto, you said it’s two terms, work without brakes. Let’s see Machakos, work without brakes from William Ruto, let me see the people of two terms in Machakos,” Ichung’wa pointed out.
