‘The Gov’t Is Extremely Stable!’ – Wandayi Plays Down Protests Effect
Energy Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi has reassured Kenyans that the government is stable and in charge, dismissing suggestions that recent protests in Nairobi’s Central Business District indicate instability.
In response to concerns raised following the violent demonstrations, Wandayi claimed that people who believe the government is on unstable ground are fantasizing.
“Those who think that the government is shaken are daydreaming. The government that we serve is extremely stable,” he said.
Wandayi’s statements follow turbulent events in Nairobi, where demonstrators rushed to the streets, causing property damage and disrupting business in the city center.

He denounced the violence and urged all Kenyans who value peace to reject activities that resulted in property destruction.
“What happened in Nairobi in the name of demonstrations in the CBD must be condemned by all peace-loving Kenyans,” he said.
“We’ve had demos in the past, even here and in other places, but never have we seen such destruction of property.”
While accepting the constitutional right to protest, Wandayi cautioned that freedoms should not be used to justify lawlessness.
“We know that Kenyans continue to enjoy freedom of expression and movement. But we should not misuse these freedoms and cause chaos,” he noted.
He went on to criticize the protest organizers, stating they should be held liable for the results.
“Those who organised those demos must be warned that you cannot have your cake and eat it too,” he said.
“Once you take the initiative to organise protests, you must also take responsibility for their outcome.”

Wandayi also praised President William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga’s efforts to unite the country, emphasizing that togetherness is the foundation for growth.
“We thank President William Ruto and Prime Minister Raila Odinga for taking the first step to unite this country. That unity of purpose is what is required for development,” he added.
The CS urged Kenyans to avoid division and instead support efforts to establish a peaceful and prosperous nation.
He stressed that service delivery is still the administration’s primary concern.
