Alai Breaks Silence After Land-Grab Implication

Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai has retaliated against a local investor who accused him of illegally occupying his Runda land in response to his ongoing internet attacks on his character.

In a statement issued on June 30, Alai said that the alleged victim and his lawyer had initiated an online effort to smear his character since the case was filed in court.

Aside from these two, Alai accused The Standard of spreading the same material.

“I am compelled to speak out due to the persistent campaign of trolling, defamation, bullying, and public shaming orchestrated,” he stated.

In his remarks, Alai said that these corporations had most likely continued the web attacks to undermine the judicial process and gain favorable decisions through public pressure rather than legal merit.

As a result, he questioned the alleged victim’s trust in the legal system and even called his character into doubt.

For starters, the MCA claimed that the plaintiff had previously hired 500 goons to demolish the property at the same location while the case was still pending in court.

He also accused him of approaching at least six other people to carry out his illegal activities, including harassing Alai and the courts to persuade the court to rule in his favor.

Alai maintained that he had followed all legal procedures thus far and advised his accuser to do the same so that he would not leave himself up to future litigation and undermine his case.

“The matter is sub judice, and your grievances must be prosecuted within the confines of the courtroom, not through media trials or social media lynching,” he stated.

“Engaging in defamatory, libellous, or bullying behaviour will not advance your case.”

Alai added: “Still, it may expose you to legal consequences under Kenya’s laws, including the Defamation Act and the Computer Misuse and Cybercrimes Act. I urge you to cease these actions immediately and focus on presenting your evidence before the court.”

Just a few days ago, a video showing the investor accusing the MCA of forcing him out of his property went viral, with his lawyer even claiming that his client was beaten during the incident.

The investor said that despite having owned the land for 33 years, Alai and his accomplices drove him out, prompting the filing of the lawsuit.
