Armed Goons Attack KHRC Offices, Steal Laptops Before Press Briefings
A gang of armed men reportedly infiltrated the Kenya Human Rights Commission headquarters before a press conference with Kenyan moms.
The Women’s Collective Kenya stated in a statement on X that the goons invaded the offices to disperse the moms who were planning to publish a press release at 1.30pm ahead of Saba Saba Day.
“Armed goons have attacked offices of the Kenya Human Rights Commission (KHRC), where a press conference was due to be held this afternoon by Kenyan mothers on the eve of Saba Saba,” the Women’s Collective said.
At exactly 2:08 pm EAT today, hired goons stormed our office—sent by the state to silence dissent.

According to an anonymous source from Inuka Kenya Ni Sisi, the armed goons fled with at least two laptop computers belonging to journalists, forcing those there to hide.
The presser’s fate is currently in the balance as the facilitators seek refuge in adjacent restaurants.
According to reports, the goons accused the group of organizing the July 7 Saba Saba protests.
The mothers had organized the news conference to demand a stop to arbitrary arrests, enforced disappearances, and extrajudicial killings of their children for going to the streets.
Several Kenyans have been killed during prior rallies, most of whom were shot by anti-riot police personnel attempting to disperse them.
The peak of these killings was the June 25, 2024, anti-Finance Bill rallies, which resulted in at least 60 deaths and dozens more forced disappearances.
The aftermath of these killings only inflamed the Gen Zs, who have since gone out in droves for any protests, which are frequently planned online.
This occurred during the June 17 rallies demanding justice for blogger-turned-teacher Albert Ojwang, who was allegedly slain in police custody.

However, an unarmed Kenyan selling masks to the demonstrators was shot in the head, and the incident was captured on video. He went away two weeks later.
These protests had been infiltrated by goons, who appeared to coordinate with police officials to disperse people.
The following week, on June 25, Kenyans staged another major demonstration to mark the first anniversary of the anti-Finance Bill, resulting in at least 19 deaths and 400 injuries.
This was the impetus driving Kenyan mothers’ pleas to prevent the horrors from happening again as Kenyans prepare for the Saba Saba protests on July 7.
