George Ruto’s ‘Mood’ Matatu Returns to Garage After Launch
President William Ruto’s son, George Ruto, has returned his much-hyped matatu, Mood, to its garage.
This comes after pieces of it were allegedly destroyed at its official launch at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) over the weekend.
The matatu, which received a lot of attention for its spectacular look and cutting-edge features like solar panels, is alleged to have been damaged by too excited participants at the debut event.
Confirmation of the issue came via a social media post on one of Mood’s accounts, which on Monday uploaded a teaser video of the vehicle at a garage being repaired.
Fans and followers were curious as to why the matatu was already in need of maintenance.
“Mood is currently out for touch-ups. We will be back shortly,” read the caption accompanying the video.
The handlers discovered that the Mood was not the only matatu damaged.
“Most of the matatus were destroyed to an extent, and they are equally undergoing touch-ups. It stemmed from the excitement… what if you could see the solar panels?” read the response.
Among the most talked-about damages were those to Mood’s solar panels, which were widely emphasized in promotional materials prior to launch.
Bucket Seats
Other popular features of the matatu include a 65-inch TV screen, a live DJ mixing deck, solar panels, and high-end bucket chairs imported from China.

Hundreds of youngsters accompanied the matatu, producing traffic jams in the area that lasted hours into the night.
The disturbance caused tension among Nairobians on their way home, with some reports warning people to be wary of thugs.
