Governor Natembeya Responds To CS Job Rumours After Murkomen Meeting
Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has denied having any interest in becoming Cabinet Secretary in Kenya’s Kwanza cabinet.
Natembeya explained on Tuesday, following his meeting with Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, that the meeting was simply for protocol purposes.
The governor further stated that he had no interest in working as a CS because he was dedicated to his mission of helping the people.
“I’ve got no business joining the government in any capacity. I am an elected governor, and if you offer me a CS slot, what will that help me with? Nothing,” Natembeya clarified.
“I was employed there before, and the work I am focusing on now is serving the people who elected me.”

The notion gathered traction after the governor welcomed Interior CS Murkomen to his office, despite the two leaders’ opposing philosophies.
Some claimed that the encounter signaled a shift in Natembeya’s criticism of the administration.
Other sources said that the governor would be headed to Kenya Kwanza.
On Monday, July 28, Governor Natembeya met with Murkomen and welcomed him to his office.
The CS visited Trans Nzoia for the 22nd Jukwaa La Usalama grassroots interactions.
However, Natembeya underlined that the gathering did not indicate a change away from opposition.
“When a senior national government official visits the county, protocol requires that they pay a courtesy call to the Office of the Governor,” Natembeya explained.
“As the sitting Governor of Trans Nzoia, I received CS Murkomen in line with this protocol.”

Natembeya has remained committed to his role in the opposition, despite the hurdles, scrutiny, apprehensions, and attacks they experience as opposition leaders.
During his visit, Murkomen met with the county security team and evaluated registration services at the ACC Central Division in Saboti Sub-County.
Other senior government officials, including DIG-APS Gilbert Masengeli, Regional Police Commander Jasper Ombati, and Regional Administration Police Commander John Amadadi, accompanied the CS.
The polite call came only days after Governor Natembeya returned to his Kitale headquarters on July 21, following the end of a two-month prohibition imposed by a Nairobi court.
